Programming
Hotel Demo - A funky example how to use image swapouts to produce a funky hotel map.
Card XML - We propose to give websites an improved ability to show themselves off. We introduce the "Card XML" Initiative. To join, you need to put a "card.xml" file into the web root of your site. When a user or an automated web client comes to your site, they can look for either:
- A static XML file, named "card.xml"
- A PHP created XML file, named "cardxml.php"
- Or an ASP created XML file, named "cardxml.asp"
That file will contain information on the site, who is connected with that site and the street address and other contract information needed to people in contact with one another. At the very bottom of the XML file is a section called "associates" these are links to other websites who hopefully have adopted the Card XML initiative and in turn will link to other sites.
The Card XML initiative will allow a near-peer-to-peer NP2P system to be put in place. While best centralized, desktop applications can crawl through linked Card XML sites, gather information and deposit that information in their own central database.
Web portals can build applications to read information from Card XML sites. Because the site owner control their own Card XML information, they can maintain their own current details.
