I'm a big fat ass. This year I've devoted myself to do something about it. What is "something?"
- No sugar in coffee or tea. Honey in my tea for maybe 1 cup in 10.
- Almost no full sugar pop. I would like to say "none" but 10 bottles have come into my diet in the last 120 days.
- Almost no beef. Beef is high calorie compared to almost all over meats. Again-- maybe 10-15 exceptions in the last 120 days.
- Very little flour.
- Exercise: I have been trying to walk every day and that has cooked down to 3-km to 9-km on many days, but not all days.
The net effect of the above: I have gained weight, not a lot, but a disappointing amount given the exercise and hypo-caloric diet. All of the bad practices have stuck to me like glue. All of the good practices have run off of me like water off a duck's back. But losing weight and regaining health is possible. Arthur Boorman did what I aim to do in 10 months. Unlike him, I am not on crutches. But unlike him, I have a schedule where people can parachute in with problems. This is the other reason I seek to do products in lieu of problems: I can predict my schedule. This isn't the first time I've tried to lose weight. Several years back, I tried to make exercise a daily priority. I would pack exercise into the morning, until my employer started waking me up with emergencies that began as soon as some East Coast pinheads broke the website. "You have to get back to the computer, right now!" would cook down into no exercise, just some adrenalin exhaustion. So I went the other way: I planned afternoon exercise session. I thought the morning spazzes would be done by 3PM, but by 4:30 or 5PM, I could exercise. Nope: that's when the West Coast contingent got to work. If I didn't know better, I would swear they had a camera watching me: whenever I put my shoes on to leave, the phone would ring with an hour long surprise bevy of problems. So, I would stay close to home like a Pavlovian fat-ass.
As I shift away from reacting to invented crises, I going to remake my schedule and make exercise a priority and see where I'm at in 10 months. Arthur Boorman has shown me the way-- it's the same path I walked from September 1988 to May 1989 when I went from 270lbs to 170lbs. I can do it again.
